Some say it all started with the proliferation of ATM's. Some say it started years before with the introduction of the microwave oven. Others, with the invention of the automobile. Who knows when it all started, but with the introduction of more and more consumer oriented conveniences, impulse control against wasteful spending seems to get a little harder every day. There are worse, more life changing decisions that can be made in the heat of a moment. Pulling into that Drive Thru Wedding Chapel in Vegas to marry someone you just met 2 days ago at the Belagio craps table might feel just dandy, but is probably not the best policy. Or, worse yet, how about hooking up with someone without using the appropriate protections against potentially contracting a sexually transmitted infection. Thankfully, some impulsive actions can be reversed or corrected with minor impact. Unfortunately, others can result in serious consequences.
Some impulses are better than others. Checking out how to get your impulses under control is one of the better ones to act on.
